Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Oynux includes its own full-featured web mail client, but also supports IMAP and SMTP on all plans — so it's compatible with third-party email clients if you prefer. Paid plans also include JMAP support for faster, more efficient synchronisation.
Our servers are located in Quebec, Canada, hosted on dedicated hardware managed by Oynux. Your data never leaves Canadian soil and is protected by Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA, Québec Law 25).
No. Oynux uses a zero-knowledge architecture. Your encryption keys are derived from your password on your device and are never transmitted to our servers in plaintext. We are architecturally incapable of reading your email content. We do not scan your messages for advertising or any other purpose.
BIP-39 is a standard originally used in cryptocurrency wallets that generates a human-readable mnemonic phrase (12 words) representing your encryption keys. Oynux uses this standard so that you can recover access to your encrypted data even if you forget your password — without Oynux ever having access to your keys. Store your recovery phrase in a safe, offline location.
Yes, you can change your plan at any time from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. You will never lose access to your data when downgrading, though features beyond your new plan's limits will be restricted.
We accept major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment details on our servers. Prices are shown in CAD by default; other currencies are converted at current exchange rates.
